The project leverages proven technology from partners including PVAAssociate member BAE Systems. “San Francisco is one of many growing port cities in the US that is struggling to accommodate inten- sifying strain on legacy commuting systems, but has untapped potential to better use its waterways,” said Pace Ralli, Co-Founder of SW/TCH. “Commuters are seeking more flexible and enjoyable transportation solutions that avoid traffic around the BayArea.” The San Francisco ferry will act as the flagship vessel for SW/TCH’s fleet in a concerted effort to curb trans- portation emissions while mitigat- ing roadway congestion in the largest urban centers across the country. SW/ TCH plans to work with existing ferry operators on both coasts to provide capital to accelerate the adoption of ze- ro-emission modes of transit.  This zero-emission technology will only be possible with significant invest- ment in new fueling infrastructure, and SW/TCH is partnering with others to develop electric charging and hydrogen fueling infrastructure onshore. “Red and White Fleet is actively supporting the build process and will operate the vessel during the 90-day demonstration phase,” said Joe Burgard, President of Red and White Fleet, which operates ferried in San Francisco. “At the conclusion of the demonstration phase, SW/TCH is expected to be the owner of the vessel and may operate, lease, or sell the vessel.” n Water-Go-Round Project Partners Golden Gate Zero Emission Marine* SW/TCH Maritime* California Air Resources Board BAE* Bay Area Air Quality Management District Bay Ship & Yacht* Hexagon Composites Hydrogenics Corporation Incat Crowther* MARSEC Port of San Francisco Red and White Fleet* Sandia National Laboratories Source: watergoround.com * PVA members
