merican Encore, the new riv-
erboat for American Cruise 
Lines, passed sea trials and 
is underway from Chesapeake Ship-
building, in Maryland, to the Colum-
bia and Snake Rivers in the Pacific 
Northwest. American Encore is the 
latest addition to the company’s series 
of modern American Riverboats. 
The American Riverboats series have 
a capacity of 180 passengers, offering 
all guests private balcony accommoda-
tions. The five decks feature multiple 
dining options, a fitness center, and 
a top deck lounge with an outdoor 
walking track, among other amenities.
American Cruise Lines has 28 new 
small ships for U.S. cruises around 
the country and eight riverboats spe-
cifically for the Columbia and Snake 
Rivers. The company continues to 
develop docks and waterfront access 
throughout the river-region. 
American Encore’s inaugural season of 
sold-out cruises along the Columbia 
and Snake Rivers begins on May 5 and 
concludes in mid-November. 
The company is looking to launch 
additional vessels in this series with 
American Anthem in 2027 and Ameri-
can Grace in 2028. Two more present-
ly unnamed ships will follow in 2028.
