A GATHERING ON THE RIVER
Reflections
from Cincinnati
I
t was truly a pleasure to welcome so many friends and colleagues to Cincinnati and Coving-
ton, Ky., for this year’s PVA Annual Convention at MariTrends. As a past president of the
association, a local passenger vessel operator, and an active member, I always look forward
to opportunities to gather our industry, not only to conduct business but also to reconnect with
the people who make this association so strong.
Mary, Terri, Ben, and I were especially happy to see so
many vessel members and associates make the trip to our
riverfront community. For those who attended, it was clear
that the convention delivered a great program, strong atten-
dance, and plenty of opportunities to connect with fellow
operators and industry partners. For anyone who was un-
able to join us this year, you truly missed a great show.
One of the highlights for me personally was hosting the
final President’s Dinner at our facility. Terri wanted the
evening to be something special, so we opened the entire
operation to everyone: our vessels, the kitchen, the offices,
and even my personal library. It was important to us that
members could experience firsthand the place where we
operate every day along the Ohio River.
Of course, events like this don’t happen without an incred-
ible amount of work behind the scenes. I want to take a
moment to recognize the PVA staff who made this con-
vention possible. John, Leslie, Lee, Eric, Richard, Ed, Pete,
Sarah, and Tamara put in countless hours organizing the
program, coordinating logistics, and making sure every-
thing ran smoothly from start to finish. Their dedication
and professionalism are a major reason PVA continues to
deliver successful events year after year.
Our industry thrives on connection—sharing ideas, learn-
ing from one another, and strengthening the relationships
that support safe and successful passenger vessel operations
across the country. This year’s convention was a great re-
minder of that spirit.
I’m already looking forward to the day when Cincinnati and
Covington are considered again as host locations. When that
time comes, I hope the membership remembers what a great
gathering we had here on the river and vote to come back.
