b'PHOTO: WASHINGTON STATE FERRIESC ompanies in every industry in every corner of the country are looking for ways to make their operations more sustainable and lessen their negative impact on the environment. In the passenger vessel industry, this often leads to discussions of lowering greenhouse gas emissions. While emissions are a major factor of an organizations ecological footprint, theres much more to consider. When Washington State Ferries (WSF) built their Sustainability Action Plan (SAP) they took into consideration the ways their operations affect multiple aspects of the environment including stormwater runoff, shoreline fish habitats, and waste. From the air above the vessels to the water they operate on to the land along the shore, WSF has taken action to better support the entire ecosystem around them. 21 APRIL 2024'
