b'MEMBER NEWSDerecktor Building Pair of Hybrid FerriesD erecktor Shipyards NewYork will be collaboratingwith fellow PVA membersBAEandCumminsintheconstruc-tion of two hybrid passenger ferriesforthepublictransportationproviderinSavannah,Ga.The65ferrieswillfeaturedualwater-jetswithpermanentmagnettractionmotors from BAE Systems for theirelectricpropulsionandBAEsHybri-Genpowersystem,eliminatinglargediesel propulsion motors, reducingmaintenance,spacerequirements,andenvironmentalimpact.Theferrieswillhavea308-kWhenergystoragesystem(ESS).TheintegratedstartergeneratorswillpairtwoCum-mins6.7LmarinedieselengineswithaBAEHDS200ISGgenerator.TheuseofaserialhybridsystemfromBAESystems allows for greater flexibilityin power management, enhancingoverall efficiency and environmentalsustainability.
