b'MEMBER NEWSMEMBER NEWS Watermark Celebrates50 Years of Unforgettable JourneysF rom 1972 to 2022, PVA member Water-mark has immersed people in the history, culture, and fun of the Chesapeake Bay area.Watermark,originallyChesapeakeMa-rine Tours, was founded by C. Edward Hart-man II. An attorney by trade, Hartman had a love of boating and a desire to invest in the local community. Chesapeake Marine Tours began in 1972 by offering a single sightseeing cruise to St. Michaelsa trip that is still offered today as Day on the Bay. The companys offerings expanded quickly, and the fleet grew, starting with the 1973 addition of the Harbor Queen. In the 1980s, Watermark began providing wa-ter taxi service in the Annapolis Harbor.In 1999, Hartmans daughter, Debbie Gosselin, purchased Watermark from her father. Gosselin Watermark staff and Harbor Queen in the 1970s. had a vision of expanding and diversifying the public sightseeing cruises offered on the Chesa-peake Bay and continuing the commitment to excellence in private charter service.Overtheyears,Watermarkestablisheditself as a central resource for locals, visitors, social groups,andcorporateclientsalike.School groups, in particular, became familiar with Wa-termark as thousands of school-aged children stepped aboard Harbor Queen each year for their annual field trip to Annapolis, Md.As a result of the many field trip opportunities, Watermark established a partnership early on with another Annapolis business, Three Centu-ries Tours, founded in 1975 by Paula Fishback. After many years of working together, Chesa-peake Marine Tours purchased Three Centuries Tours in 2004, creating Watermark. The com-panyexpandeditsofferingstotheBaltimore Inner Harbor in 2009. In 2022, Gosselin retired, sellingWatermarktothecompanysGeneral Manager of Vessel Activities, and lifelong family friend, Jake Iversen and his wife Laura.Watermark is a leader in the regional hospital-ity industry and has many partnerships in thePHOTO COURTESY OF WATERMARKsurrounding community.
